BTVS Episode 1x11 "Out of Mind, Out of Sight" Review
Rating 7/10
I think I might be unfairly judging this episode because I'm a little impatient to get to the finale so I maybe wasn't as completely locked in as I could've been. That being said, while an invisible villain can be super interesting I feel like similar to the last episode, they didn't do much with her, and I really didn't like the explanation of "they perceived her as invisible so she became invisible". I don't expect everything supernatural to make perfect sense but it just feels like a super lazy reason. I found the ending really bizarre and a bit of a tone shift, with Marcie basically getting recruited for the X-men. It just brings up a lot of questions about what the government knows, and also how has this happened so many times? I thought the reason it happened was because they're on a Hellmouth. Are all those other kids from the same area? How is spontaneous invisibility not a well-known and studied phenomenon? I might be overthinking it but I don't care, I wanna KNOW. I just don't like not having good explanations for things, cause I firmly believe you can still have that in supernatural media. I liked the Angel appearance, and him helping out Giles, that was nice, if not a bit (extremely) random. Also, I have two questions for Americans. First, is May Queen actually a thing or is it like Spring Fling, whatever that is. Second, why are the classroom English discussions in American media always so stupid...?Characters:
- **Cordelia**: MVP. This episode gets points for Cordelia character development. I loved her telling Buffy about how she can feel lonely too, and also her thanking the gang at the end. Cordelia's pretty much just been 2D comic relief so it's really nice to get some depth from her.
- Buffy: This episode kinda answered my gripe with why Buffy isn't more popular. It's cool that she was popular at her old school, but at least she has better friends now in Willow and Giles. Am I forgetting someone?
Out of context notes:
"buffy gets fomobaited" "no dead students here... this week" "CLEA DUVALL???" "willow always has cute earrings... lesbian coded..."
