Review:
BTVS Episode 2x02 "Some Assembly Required" Review
Rating: 8 -> **7**/10
I feel like this was a pretty standard MOTW episode, nothing groundbreaking, but no major flaws and I generally enjoyed it quite a bit. The actual plot was cool, I thought it was gonna be about him trying to revive his brother so my prediction was slightly off. I liked the Frankenstein-brother aspect but I'm not sure how I feel about the making a girlfriend part. I found the scene of Daryl's mom watching videos of him playing football so so sad, though, that scene stuck out to me. I did think it was nice that Buffy got to talk the "villain" out of it for once. Other than that though, I think I enjoyed the character interactions in this more than the plot. I really liked seeing Giles and Ms Calendar's relationship develop a little, although Giles is really not smooth at all, wow. Buffy and Angel were interesting because I feel like they were sort of randomly toxic at the start and it came out of nowhere a bit. I thought it was kinda dumb of Angel to be jealous of Xander but then the way he explained it at the end made a bit more sense, that Xander gets to see her "in the sunlight".
Characters:
- **Ms Calendar:** Thank you for putting Giles out of his misery and calling it a date, because he was truly hopeless. Not a very serious MVP but I can't think of anyone else.
- Cordelia: I really like how she's starting to hang around the gang a little more, it feels like she's seeking them out on purpose to me, maybe she wants to be included more. Definitely feels like she's slowly starting to become a part of the group. Also, I think I'm officially on the Xander/Cordelia train now, I just love their banter and there was definitely some crumbs at the end of this ep.
