BTVS Episode 2x06 "Halloween" Review
Rating: 9/10
This episode was SO MUCH FUN. I genuinely loved it. First of all, I love the concept of everyone turning into their Halloween costumes, it was such a fun idea. I was immediately suspicious of the salesguy for giving Buffy the dress, and then I was like maybe I'm actually not supposed to be suspicious and this was just a way to get her the costume, but no I was right LOL. I do wish Giles had said the reason for why Halloween is quiet, because I really wanted to know, I feel like you would assume vampires would take the opportunity to just go crazy on Halloween because of the cover. Buffy's plot with Angel felt a bit silly to me, because how are you getting jealous over a drawing of an 18th century girl? I liked that she became a damsel in distress in this episode though, because SMG acted out her being scared and helpless so well, and she looked so cute. It gave the moment where she came back so much more impact, and just made me appreciate how badass Buffy normally is. I feel like I'm a little confused about Ethan's motive for doing all of this. Was it just to cause chaos? And I guess Spike just took advantage of it because Drusilla had a vision? Speaking of, Drusilla and Spike might have the freakiest relationship of all time. I like that he had vampires taping her fight and was just watching it like he had taped an enemy team's football game or something.Characters:
- **Willow**: Willow just carried this episode I feel, like she was really herding everyone around, and once again it's thanks to her that they figured out the issue. I feel like this season she's getting way more cool moments which I'm so happy about. As soon as she put on the sheet I was like oh she's definitely gonna have a moment where she takes it off, but I kinda love that it was accidental at first and then by the end of the episode she gained enough confidence to just take it off herself, and I also like that she was alone at the end so it wasn't about impressing Xander or any boy, just about herself. That being said, they really teased me with Oz seeing her again at the end. I need them to just meet already because I'm so excited by the concept of a boy that actually appreciates Willow. Also, her saying, "I think I prefer being able to vote," was the best line ever, she is so me.
- **Giles**: Yes, I'm doing a joint MVP this ep, because you can't stop me. I just really couldn't decide because they both had great moments. Giles' whole thing with Ethan Rayne had me in so much suspense, like what do you mean GILES has a dark past??? I need to know more right now. I love how scary he got when he was threatening Ethan, and he really saved the day with that so well done Giles. Him maybe not being so good in the past actually makes me like him more, cause I love a redemption arc. The shot at the end where he looked into the camera kinda scared me but in a cool way.
- Xander: I really enjoyed Soldier Xander. I wish we could have him instead of regular Xander. What do you mean you can punch vampires and evil frat guys but you can't punch a random high schooler. Also, I really ship him and Cordelia and I don't think it's just in my head...
