BTVS Episode 2x13 "Surprise" Review

Rating 9/10

I loved this episode cause we got the return of Drusilla and Spike! I really like them as villains, and I like that Drusilla is taking more of the main role right now and isn't just the villain's sidekick/love interest. I think the craziest part of the episode to me though was finding out that Jenny is part of the family that cursed Angel, like that actually made me gasp. It really sucks though because they must know that giving a vampire their soul returns their empathy/morals so is it really fair to punish a vampire based off of their actions without a soul, especially when they are clearly making amends. Like Jenny's family seem aware of all that but they don't care? Why do they treat it as a curse and not a cure, like if they have the means to do so why don't they do it for all vampires to prevent them from killing?? These are kinda the same questions I've had since Angel so I hope they do get addressed. I also really hope Jenny doesn't betray Angel. Other than that, the group planning Buffy's birthday party was so cute, I'm kinda sad it got interrupted. We got a crumb of Oz, and he found out about vampires a lot more quickly than I expected. There was also obviously a big focus on Angel and Buffy's relationship, which I don't dislike, but I also don't love. Like I think they can be sweet together but I'm not really personally invested in them as a couple, cause I feel like the most interesting thing about them is just that its vampire x slayer. The Judge is interesting, I could be totally wrong but I feel like there's gonna be some sort of plot twist where either he can kill anyone because no one is totally righteous, or its actually reversed and truly righteous people are immune, but I have no reasoning for this. Or maybe it'll be some Macbeth thing where a weapon can't kill him but something else can.

Out of context notes: "spike just said wanker haha"
