Review:
BTVS Episode 1x03 "Witch" Review
Rating: 9 -> 8/10
Guys, I reallyyyy enjoyed that episode. I think if the show keeps following this formula I really am gonna love it because that was so fun. I thought I was so smart for suspecting Amy to be the witch but no that was the obvious part. I genuinely didn't suspect this reveal at all, even when she came home and was acting creepy I thought she had just cast some sort of compliance spell on her mom, so when her "mom" said "when Dad, I mean... her dad" and it showed the brownies on the table too, I was genuinely shocked, like I feel soo stupid for not guessing that but I just really love that plot twist, and it makes so much sense with her complimenting her "mom" so much at the start. I think it didn't occur to me because I just genuinely believed the pressure of her mom had pushed her to that point and I thought that was an interesting enough motive on its own. I know I keep saying this but I genuinely appreciate so much how smart Buffy is because I get so annoyed in TV shows when the main characters don't figure out or suspect the obvious but Buffy always gets it right away. I will say I'm super annoyed that they didn't tie up Amy in her Mom's body or something while they did the spell because the whole time I was just stressed thinking that when they switch back she' s literally gonna be right there in the room, I feel like they should've thought of that. Also I had to google when Sabrina the Teenage Witch came out cause I did not expect them to reference that lmao it felt so wrong.Characters:
**- Giles: ** He saved Buffy with that spell so I guess he can be MVP. He's actually growing on me a lot because he was giving gay uncle this ep (is he gay? idk and idc, hes guncle)
- Xander: actually count your days... just constantly downgrading... It was sooo satisfying though when Buffy called him one of the girls, I actually cackled. He need to get over his crush on Buffy STAT. I also really hope I don't have to suffer through a Xander Willow relationship, but that feels kinda inevitable right now so I hope it's at least short lived.
- Buffy's mom: I feel like we got to see more of the dynamic between Buffy and her mom this episode and it was really interesting. I do feel really bad for them both, because from her mom's perspective her daughter is just randomly acting out and causing trouble for seemingly no reason and she can't get through to her, and from Buffy's perspective she's just getting punished for saving people, so I do really hope she tells her mom soon. Not sure if there's rules against that or if she doesn't want to endanger her but it seems like it would make both their lives a lot easier.
