BTVS Episode 2x18 "Killed by Death" Review
Rating 7/10
This episode was probably the scariest one in the series so far to me, I really hate any spooky hospital vibe (blaming The Hostile Hospital from ASOUE for that.) And OH MY GOD that eyeball scene is actually gonna be in my dreams tonight, I hated that so much. That doesn't take away from the rating, but something that does is I just really hate watching children in horror settings, like seeing them crying and screaming is so hard to watch for me. The general horror vibe of this episode was cool though. Aside from that, the actual plot was just okay, pretty standard MOTW I feel, and kinda slow in parts. The most interesting part to me was Buffy having to fight with a fever. The cousin lore was cool, I think that's the first time we've seen that Buffy has had experience with a monster like that before, but also kinda makes me wonder how that works. Was that a different monster or did the monster also move to Sunnydale LOL. Xander really irritated me this episode, I think it just bothers me how obvious he makes it to Cordelia that he's in love with Buffy. I just feel really bad for her. At the end I thought he was gonna step in and help Buffy but he literally just stood there and watched. I hate how he tries to act all protective of Buffy when he's genuinely useless. The ending scene was funny though, with the kid drawing a pic of Buffy killing the monster and Buffy's Mom going, "How... nice." Honestly though, why didn't they just stake Angel in the opening scene. I feel like the last half of this season is full of situations where Angel could easily kill Buffy and vice versa but they can't do that because of plot so they make up some random excuse, and it's kinda lame.Out of context notes: "is that white knight bothering you miss" "'cordelia have you actually ever heard of tact' helppp" "xander would it kill u to say thank you" "FROGS" "oh my god why am i watching this ep at 2am" "if i said i asked for crunchy peanut butter my mum would throw the sandwich at my head"
