BTVS Episode 2x19 "I Only Have Eyes For You" Review

Rating 10/10

I LOVED this episode, even at the start when I thought it would just be a MOTW I was ready to give it at least an 8. The ghost love story had me intrigued from the start, and all the different actors did such a good job at delivering the same scene. I know it was hinted in School Hard that Snyder knows about the Hellmouth but we got confirmation in this ep, which makes me hate him a little less because his suspicion of Buffy is slightly more justified (does he really not consider she might be good though?). Willow was such an MVP in this episode with researching the ghost stuff and also looking at Jenny's stuff but they baited me so hard cause I really thought she was gonna find the soul returning spell or whatever. I love that Spike/Drusilla/Angel trio showed up again but I was starting to get a little tired of Spike just being grumpy in a wheelchair, like he got completely nerfed as a villain for so many episodes, but apparently this show read my mind because that ending was crazy. Kinda rooting for him to at least punch Angel in the face for constantly ragebaiting him. The craziest part of this episode was obviously Buffy and Angel getting possessed and I did not see that coming one bit, but maybe I should've because they were obviously trying to parallel them from the start. I thought it was just gonna lead to Buffy realising she needs to forgive herself though, I didn't expect Angel to actually be involved. The scene between the two of them was just so good and I LOVE that the solution was that the teacher ghost just needed a chance to survive the shooting so she could forgive the other ghost, like that is so cool and unique. I think this would've been a good MOTW but the way it tied into the overarching plot was just genuinely perfect.

Out of context notes: "FIND THE DRIVE FIND THE DRIVE PLEASEEEE FIND IT" "can spike get out of this wheelchair" (does she know) "hes in a literal cuck chair"
