BTVS Episode 3x01 "Anne" Review
Rating 8/10
I think that was a great episode but felt very similar to When She Was Bad in a way, almost felt like a prequel/setup to the season. I really loved that Willow, Xander and Oz had taken over vampire killing, I think that was really fun. Xander and Cordelia were pretty cute and funny this episode too. I'm glad that Oz is gonna be in the show more since he's in the theme song now. Buffy's Mom highkey pissed me off when she got mad at Giles and blamed him. Like, I felt bad for her initially because I know she regretted what she said to Buffy but then her trying to put the blame on Giles was just irritating. That being said, I did tear up a bit at the end when Buffy came back home. I really, really, really hope that she's gonna be understanding from now on and not just another obstacle for Buffy. Buffy's plot this ep was interesting, but I was kinda confused on what exactly the villains were, it wasn't really explained much. Like what was their actual goal, what were they making the kids work for, how is their another dimension through this random portal, why does time move slower, like it just felt kind of random to me. I really liked Lily's character though, I did not remember her at all from the vampire cult but I'm guessing it's the same actress and it's cool that they had a callback to that. I think the storyline surrounding all the runaway/homeless kids was the strongest part of the episode, stuff like that hits so much harder because its unfortunately realistic. I loved that she just pushed the guy at the end though. Overall, it was a good episode but definitely felt like a lot of setup for the season to actually start, and the villain was kinda meh. I'm excited to see Buffy's return next episode.
Out of context notes: "OMG WILLOW???" "shes in a music video" "IM BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER!!!"
