Buffy 3x2 - Dead Man's Party

BTVS Episode 3x02 "Dead Man's Party" Review

No Buffy episode has ever made me as angry as this one. I didn't mind Buffy's mom at the start, I think she was handling it understandably well, but then her shouting at Buffy during the party just annoyed me all over again. I can understand her anger way more though as a mother, and honestly both Xander and Willow were so much worse to me because they should've understood. I just don't get how they both made Buffy running away completely about themselves when she had just gone through the most traumatic experience ever. She literally had to kill the person she loved to save everyone and the only sympathy she got for it was a backhanded moment from Cordelia calling her stupid. Xander calling that situation "boy troubles" literally boiled my blood. I hate how they kept saying Buffy should've just talked to them when after she came back they all just punished her for it. Willow's whole speech about how she has problems too honestly made me roll my eyes, I genuinely have no sympathy for Willow or Xander, but it feels worse coming from Willow because I'm used to Xander pissing me off. I don't know if I'm being harsh but I just think if all that happened to my friend I would just be so happy that they came back home, I wouldn't dream of piling on even more. I think the part that makes this worse than any other episode for me is that it ends with BUFFY apologising and accepting her role as the bad guy. Not a single apology from anyone else? I have never disliked Willow but that end scene... For the sake of my mental health I am gonna pretend that this episode never existed. That being said, Giles was the absolute MVP this episode and had so many incredible moments, like when he started imitating Buffy's mom LMAO. I think he has to be my second favourite character after Buffy at this point. Yes, Buffy is my number one favourite and I will ALWAYS defend her.The actual zombie plot was so filler and irrelevant I don't think I even need to say anything about that. That ugly ass principal also needs to get a grip because why is your arch nemesis a teenage girl. I knew that Buffy coming back wasn't gonna be super smooth but I just hate that after everything she's been through she had to deal with all her loved ones making her feel even worse. I don't think she deserved any of that.
