Buffy 3x3 - Faith, Hope & Trick

BTVS Episode 3x03 "Faith, Hope & Trick" Review

Major new character introduction this episode! Faith annoyed me this episode purely because I can't stand to see anyone be rude to Buffy right now, but I do think her personality would be a really good addition to the Scoobies, and I'm excited to see more. I'm also really glad Buffy can have someone to share the burden with, so I hope they become close. I am a little bit annoyed though, that they killed off Kendra, who barely had any screentime, just to replace her with another white girl who will actually become a significant character. Just feels sad that the show could only have a Black girl in that role if she wasn't too important. Very ironic that Mr ~~Poe~~ Trick even makes a comment in this episode about how Sunnydale is white as hell. Really funny that he just didn't care about his master dying. I'm assuming he will show up again because otherwise it would be strange they made a big deal of his arrival and had his name in the title if this is his only appearance. I don't really get why they make these villains seem so dramatically evil but then they get killed relatively easily though, just feels a little silly. I think I would prefer if it was just a group of regular vampires after Faith. I appreciated Buffy's mom in this episode for laughing in Snyder's face, and she actually had a nice moment with Buffy. Somehow, all of the Scoobies were pretty much irrelevant in this episode. Scott seemed sweet but I really expected him to either be a villain or die because he still seems like an NPC. I guess he has slightly more personality than Buffy's previous human love interests but I am not convinced. I fear his days are numbered.I actually really love that Giles made up that spell, like maybe it's a little sneaky but it kinda gagged me, and it gave Buffy a good reason to finally open up and I think that was really good for her. I am still so confused about the whole slayer/watcher situation though? Like how many watchers are there for there to be a whole retreat, is it one per country?? Insane ending to this episode. I don't even know what to say about that.
